Types of Coffee Grinders

If you are looking to make a perfect cup of coffee, a coffee grinder will play an essential role in your daily life. Your mornings will begin with grinding coffee beans that suit your palate to the fineness needed for your coffee maker. Coffee grinders are of the following three types:

Blade coffee grinders

Here two blades run at high speed and crush the coffee beans. While blade grinders can be cheaper, they are known to create inconsistently ground beans with some becoming a fine powder and the rest in bigger chunks. This lack of consistency is something that will prevent you from extracting a great cup of coffee from them.

Burr grinders

Burr grinders are two discs that can be flat or conical that have grooves like a gear. This means that the beans get caught between these two discs and are ground to the granularity you have set. Burr grinders can be electric or manual.

 Manual Coffee grinders

These are typically burr grinders with a handle that lets you rotate it to create the amount of coffee powder that you need for your cups of coffee. Traditional and perfect for a limited number of cups of coffee.
